About the project
The challenge is to "create a collection of static wallpapers that will be used as part of an OS update within the Windows platform."
Create a light and dark mode version of each wallpaper. One of the wallpapers will include subtle elements of motion to bring the image to life.
In collaboration with Elizabeth Ditzler

Initial Design Directions

01. Abstract Exploration
Creating abstract imagery to explore and build a unique environment. Using splines to make surreal abstract “sculptures”.

02. Windows of Inspiration
This direction utilizes the Windows logo as a way of seeing things differently. Distortion within the logo will create visual contrast and open opportunities for dynamic animation.
This direction was selected to move forward.

After receiving our critique and a final selection was made, we realized we weren't done exploring. We made the decision to continue experimenting. Elizabeth and I decided to have fun and make as many more different directions as we could. We ended up making four more additional frames we felt were more on brand. We pitched these new concepts and received positive feedback

03. Hive Mind
Representing the individuals that make Windows the strong company it is. Each disk is made up of thousands of fragments showing Windows community reach.

04. Precision
Using abstract imagery and depth to explore and build a unique layered environment. This concept pays homage to the dedication and precision Windows shows when contributing to new technologies and community input.

05. Socially Intertwined
Entwined wires are used to represent the connectivity between Windows and their target audience.

06. Dusk & Dawn - Selected!
Using the Windows logo as a light source illuminating the surrounding abstractified modern architecture. Modern architecture gives the audience an opportunity to embrace new ideas and reflect on current changes in the world. This reflects the ideologies Windows puts forth into their community.
