AI Inspiration
When trying to gain ideas and inspiration, I turned to AI for image generation. I was able to create this visual of a gavel hitting a building that looked like the Supreme Court exterior. This was a jumping off point for my concept.
The Concept
The concept will use a series of both literal and interpretive imagery of the Supreme Court. The overall tone of this concept will be darker. Both 3d and 2d elements will be used. This design direction will have a more subtle use of existing imagery relating to the documentary. The color and style is heavily influence by neo-noir Stimmung techniques.

Process
First Pass
The Initial Critique of this was the pacing. It felt too rushed and did not portray the overall tone of heaviness
I was trying to portray.
Second Pass
This pass was heading in an overall better direction with pacing. While it was not 100% there yet, there was an improvement. My critique for this pass was to tone down the saturation and revise lighting. I was also advised to fix camera movements.
Video Montage
A key component of this brief was to incorporate video footage. While yes, my piece is primarily 3d, I knew I need to create imagery that had a purpose and felt like it belonged in the same world. I compiled various footage of supreme court ruling announcements, community reactions, and another relating image. I montaged and edited it in After Effects. I then proceeded to add a distortion to create visual interest and depth.
Revision Pass
This time around I added text to experiment with placement. Going forward my notes were to fix the framing of the gavel hit to create more of a statement. Also, just to clean up easing and to tie up loose ends
