About the project
Originally, I was tasked with learning an organic modeling and sculpting technique. My concept was inspired by Irezumi, traditional Japanese tattoos. However, just a year later, I was tasked with doing a complete update to this project. I love seeing the side-by-side comparison of the two deliverables.

The overall goal
My overall goal was to improve the environment and texturing of this piece. I was already really happy with the mask's sculpt, so I decided to bring it into a more realistic space. I drew inspiration the second time around from traditional statues and settings.

About the update
So what is actually different?
Well, for starters I switched what render engine I was using. The original was created using Octane and the updated version was created using Redshift. This is my first exploration using Redshift. So there was a huge learning curve. I also treated the final image in Nuke. That is where I added the depth of field, final color corrections, minor lighting tweaks, and a very subtle bokeh.
